Visit one of the country's many grand houses/stately homes
Castle Howard has been the family home of the Howard family for the last eight generations. Charles Howard the 3rd Earl of Carlisle (1679-1738), is famed as the creator of Castle Howard. Although building work began in 1699, the construction of Castle Howard took over 100 years to complete, spanning the lifetimes of three Earls.
Visit the "Plague Village" of Eyam which cut itself off from the outside world in the 17th century to prevent the deadly disease from spreading to neighbouring communities. Our tour includes a tour of Eyam Hall - home of the Wright family for eleven generations.
